Gas prices continue to rise in San Diego, with the average price reaching nearly $6.20 per gallon this Friday, according to the latest fuel price data.

The countywide average for regular gasoline reached approximately $6.19 per gallon, marking its highest level since May and the 30th consecutive increase.

AAA data placed the average price of regular gasoline in San Diego at $6.1866 per gallon on Friday, September 18, up from $6.0173 a week ago and $5.6826 a month ago.

That means the average price has increased by approximately 17 cents in one week and 50 cents over the past month.

The increase comes as oil prices remain elevated. AAA reported that crude oil prices are hovering around $100 per barrel, a factor that continues to put pressure on prices at the pump.

For San Diego drivers, the increase means higher costs for those who rely on their vehicles to commute to work, take their children to school, or travel between cities across the county.

The impact could also be significant for people who frequently travel between Tijuana and San Diego, particularly cross-border workers who rely on their vehicles for their daily commutes.

With gas prices once again approaching the $6-per-gallon mark, drivers could continue to face higher costs to fill their tanks if the upward trend continues in the coming days.
