The Coast Guard reported that the pilots were in the water for one minute before being transported to a hospital, where they are in stable condition.

Two pilots were rescued after an E/A-18G Growler fighter jet crashed in San Diego Bay. They ejected before impact and were assisted by a fishing boat.

The Coast Guard stated that the pilots were in the water for one minute before being taken to a hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition.

The Navy indicated that the accident occurred during a landing attempt, but the causes and the flight’s point of origin remain unknown.

A news team witnessed the incident at 1:00 p.m. The Harbor Police provided further details in a press conference.

The Navy deployed teams to recover debris and contain possible fuel spills; the wreckage remained in the water for hours.

The E/A-18G Growler is a specialized electronic warfare aircraft assigned to Electronic Attack Squadron 135. The accident investigation is ongoing.
