Heavy snowfall expected in the county mountains

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning until 11 p.m. today, March 13, and a Flood Watch in effect until 6 p.m.

 

Heavy snowfall is expected in Big Bear Lake, with accumulations of up to 25 inches at elevations above 8,000 feet, wind gusts up to 60 mph, and possible thunderstorms, Rainfall rates could reach 1 inch per hour in mountainous areas.  

 

Authorities are working to clear city streets, while Caltrans is maintaining major access routes. Drivers are advised to exercise caution, carry tire chains, and avoid parking on city streets during snow conditions, as vehicles could be ticketed or towed.

 

SR-330 is closed due to the risk of debris flows. SR-18 and SR-38 are recommended as alternate routes.
