Several San Diego County communities are expected to experience scheduled power outages this week as San Diego Gas & Electric carries out maintenance, repairs and improvements to its electrical system.

The outages are scheduled from Tuesday, Aug. 11, through Thursday, Aug. 13, with some interruptions taking place during the day and others overnight.

Areas included in the schedule range from South Bay and central San Diego to North County and inland communities.

Tuesday, Aug. 11

SDG&E has scheduled outages in areas including Lemon Grove, Escondido, Mission Valley, Kearny Mesa, Tierrasanta, City Heights, Chollas Creek, Oak Park, Nestor, San Ysidro, Otay Mesa, Clairemont, Bay Park, Morena, Ocean Beach, Midway and Lindbergh Field.

Most of the scheduled work will take place between the morning and afternoon, although some outages are planned during the early morning hours.

Wednesday, Aug. 12

Wednesday's schedule includes outages in La Presa, Spring Valley, Rancho San Diego, Nestor, San Ysidro, Otay Mesa, Escondido, Julian, Santa Ysabel, Valley Center, Lilac, Mission Bay and Pacific Beach, among other communities.

A longer overnight outage is scheduled for parts of Center City, Balboa Park and Golden Hills, from 10 p.m. Wednesday until approximately 5 a.m. Thursday.

Thursday, Aug. 13

Scheduled outages will continue Thursday in areas including Rancho del Rey, Eastlake, Otay Reservoir, Valley Center, Lilac, Rincon, Pauma Valley, Julian, West San Marcos, Carlsbad, La Costa and parts of Vista.

The length of each outage will vary depending on the location and the work being performed.

SDG&E warns that scheduled outage times are estimates and may change as crews carry out the work.

Residents can check SDG&E's outage map to determine whether their address is included in a scheduled interruption. The map is updated approximately every 10 minutes.

Those who are affected are encouraged to charge phones, backup batteries and other essential devices ahead of time.
