Authorities have issued a coastal flood advisory for San Diego County as unusually high tides are expected to affect roads, homes, businesses, and infrastructure near the shoreline.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the advisory will remain in effect until 1 p.m. Thursday, October 29, with flooding possible during morning high tides.

Water levels could rise 1 to 1.7 feet above normal astronomical tide predictions, increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying coastal areas, road closures, and shoreline erosion.

The impacts could extend to residential properties, commercial establishments, and critical infrastructure in areas vulnerable to rising water levels.

Authorities are urging residents to stay away from the coast during high tides, avoid seawalls and jetties, and never attempt to drive through flooded streets or go around road barricades.

Residents are also encouraged to monitor official weather updates and use caution when traveling through coastal areas while the advisory remains in effect.
