Agencies responsible for processing refugees have halted their activities, putting resettlement plans on hold

Donald Trump temporarily suspended the entry of refugees into the United States, halting both travel and the processing of new cases. This decision, announced through an executive order, has raised concerns both domestically and internationally.

According to Trump, the country is facing unprecedented levels of migration, which he claims are straining resources meant for U.S. citizens. In his view, this justified the need to limit the arrival of new migrants.

The president also instructed that paid leave be granted to diversity staff and ordered their removal by 5:00 p.m. This action is part of a series of presidential orders addressing labor and immigration issues.

Agencies responsible for processing refugees have suspended their operations, putting resettlement plans on hold. This measure will directly affect refugees who had already been granted permission to enter the country.

The decision is part of Trump’s broader approach to stricter immigration policies, including an increase in deportations and the strengthening of immigration and national security laws.

Regarding the war in Ukraine, Trump took a firm stance, warning Vladimir Putin of severe sanctions if the conflict continues. He also labeled the war as “ridiculous” and urged for an immediate agreement to bring it to an end.
