Authorities say the suspect, identified as Chad Williams, acted alone during the incident at a Twin Falls restaurant. Officials added that the quick response of an off-duty police officer and an armed civilian helped prevent an even greater tragedy

An incident at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho, left three people dead and seven others injured, making it one of the most significant violent events to occur in the northwestern U.S. state in recent years.

The incident took place on the afternoon of Saturday, August 1, just days after the restaurant's grand opening. According to the Twin Falls Police Department, the suspect was identified as 24-year-old Chad Williams.

Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said investigators have found no evidence that anyone else was involved and confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the community. He added that the suspect's family is cooperating with authorities as investigators work to determine what led to the attack.

Among those killed was an In-N-Out Burger employee. The injured were taken to hospitals across the region, where several remain under medical care.

During the incident, an off-duty Idaho State Police officer and an armed civilian intervened to stop the suspect. Authorities said their actions likely prevented additional casualties.

The civilian was identified by U.S. media as Jordan Salinas, who assisted during the emergency while customers and employees sought safety.

In-N-Out Burger President and owner Lynsi Snyder expressed her condolences in a public statement shared on social media, confirming that one of the company's employees was among those who lost their lives. She said the company will support the victims' families, employees, and everyone affected by the tragedy.

The restaurant chain also said it is cooperating with law enforcement and will provide counseling and mental health resources for its employees.

The area remained closed for several hours while investigators collected evidence, reviewed surveillance footage, and interviewed witnesses. The investigation involves the Twin Falls Police Department, Idaho State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

Twin Falls city spokesperson Josh Palmer said authorities are notifying victims' families before officially releasing their identities.

Investigators have not yet determined what motivated the attack and continue reviewing the available evidence.

The incident has shocked Idaho and renewed discussions about public safety and violence in the United States, particularly because it occurred at a newly opened family restaurant that had attracted large crowds since opening.
