Armed men intercepted a bank customer in a parking lot after he withdrew a large sum of money; the vehicle used in the crime was located hours later

The midday calm in Tijuana’s downtown area was shattered this Friday by a violent robbery in which a bank customer was stripped of 160,000 pesos. The victim had just exited a bank branch on Seventh Street and was heading toward his vehicle in a nearby parking lot when he was ambushed by two armed individuals.

According to early reports, the assailants were traveling in a blue sedan with California license plates. Without saying a word, they intercepted the man, threatened him, and made off with the cash, which was reportedly intended for payroll. The swift and targeted nature of the attack suggests the perpetrators knew exactly who they were following and how much money he was carrying.

Following an emergency call, officers from various law enforcement agencies launched an operation in the area. A few hours later, the vehicle used in the crime was found abandoned on Sixth Street, between Revolución and Constitución Avenues. The area was cordoned off, and an intelligence unit began a formal investigation.

Despite the police presence, no arrests have been made so far. The incident has reignited debate over security in high-traffic commercial zones and the vulnerability of individuals handling large sums of money especially during predictable hours and without professional security escort.
