A vehicle caught fire early Monday morning while waiting in the Ready Lane near Pueblo Amigo in Tijuana, prompting the temporary closure of the border crossing lanes into the United States.

According to information gathered at the scene, the fire apparently began due to a mechanical failure. The driver and passenger were able to exit the vehicle on their own and were not injured.

Firefighters responded to the scene to extinguish the flames and carry out the necessary procedures to ensure there were no further risks.
Due to the emergency response, the Ready Lane remained closed for more than an hour while emergency crews worked at the scene.

Once the fire was under control, a tow truck working for the city removed the damaged vehicle, clearing the lanes and allowing the crossing to reopen and traffic into the United States to resume.
