The celebration of Halloween, known in many Spanish-speaking countries as the Night of Witches, has pagan origins and is astrologically associated with the sign of Scorpio. The holiday is characterized by decorations such as carved pumpkins or Jack-o'-lanterns, but it also holds deeper meanings connected to the afterlife and spirituality.

Origin of Halloween

The word "Halloween" is derived from the contraction of "All Hallow Even," first used in the 18th century. This festival is celebrated on October 31st, coinciding with Samhain, an ancient Celtic festival that marked the end of the harvest season. On this night, it was believed that spirits visited the living, which generated fear and the need for protective rituals.

In Japan, the Obon festival also commemorates deceased family members, highlighting the importance of remembering ancestors across various cultures.

Astrological Influence

Astrologically, Halloween coincides with Scorpio season, which symbolizes death and rebirth. This sign encourages exploration of the darker aspects of existence, offering an opportunity to release what no longer serves us and to be reborn into a new cycle.
