An Amazon truck approaches the intersection, and that's when the crowd swarms it, throwing objects at the cabin and, as the driver tries to get away, breaking into the trailer to take things for free. If your Amazon delivery in the area was delayed, it could be due to this incident.

 

The California Highway Patrol, along with local police departments, managed to arrest several individuals, but that only makes a small dent in these street takeover operations.

 

Given that they have operated with few consequences in Sacramento California and other parts of the country for years, these illegal gatherings are on the rise, and participants act with increasing boldness.

 

 

Only a few individuals who participate in or record these events end up getting arrested. And among those who are arrested, not many face severe legal consequences. We can go to almost any social media platform and immediately find all kinds of videos of street takeovers, filmed to glamorize breaking the law.

 

We've seen law enforcement use social media ruthlessly to pursue participants in protests that the authorities disapprove of. So, why don't they do the same with street takeovers? It seems obvious that those in charge of certain cities, counties, and states don't really see this as a problem. The big question that needs to be asked is, why?

 

Making some token arrests to maintain a positive public image isn't curbing the problem.
