In the town of Huamanga, in the Covadonga Human Settlement, Ayacucho region, Peru, law enforcement detained a man after a violent incident that ended his coworker's life. The assailant, identified as 20-year-old Rafael Vilcatoma Arone, repeatedly struck his colleague, 41-year-old Abraham Lucano Huarcaya, with a gas tank, as shown in footage captured by a security camera at their workplace.

The tragic event unfolded while both were engaged in the counting and labeling of gas tanks. At one point, taking advantage of Abraham being bent over taking notes, Rafael viciously attacked him, rendering him unconscious. Showing no remorse, Vilcatoma Arone continued his assault by smashing the tank against his victim's face until causing his death. Subsequently, he left the scene seemingly undisturbed.

The Peruvian National Police managed to apprehend the assailant, who was hiding under the stairs at his residence. It's worth noting that the arrested individual was responsible for the care of his two younger sisters, as they did not live with their parents.

Presented before the appropriate authorities, the assailant initially claimed insanity, even going so far as to assert that he was the infamous character Chucky, known from Hollywood horror movies. Despite inconclusive medical examinations, the fifth preparatory investigation court in Ayacucho imposed nine months of imprisonment. However, due to the complexity of the case, the criminal process has been delayed, and the accused remains in custody.
