A Ford Expedition SUV crashes at Norman Scott Street gate.

Three military members were transported to the hospital Wednesday morning following a vehicular accident at a gate of the San Diego Naval Base.

This morning, a non-base vehicle attempted to bypass the guard booth at the gate around 4:30 a.m.

At that moment, the guard booth was occupied, and when the vehicle attempted to bypass it, a security guard pressed a button that raised a barrier, causing the car to collide with it.

Three military members inside the vehicle, all base security workers, were taken to the hospital due to the collision. Unofficially, it is said that one of the affected individuals has already been discharged, while the other two remain under medical observation.

Although there is no threat to the public, some gates of the naval base are closed due to the incident, causing traffic in the area. Naval base personnel have diverted traffic to Gate 29, which is on Main Street, and then to Gate 32, which is on Yama and Main Street. That gate is operating normally; the two gates on the dry side are open until approximately 7 p.m. and Gate 43.
