The El Sauzal Roadway Node is strategically located at the intersection of Federal Highway No. 3 Tecate-Ensenada and the Tijuana-Ensenada Highway

Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda has inaugurated the El Sauzal Roadway Node, one of the most significant projects under the RESPIRA Program, aimed at improving mobility in the region. With an investment of 266.7 million pesos, this project seeks to transform the road infrastructure of Ensenada, benefiting over 250,000 residents and optimizing the flow of 78,000 vehicles daily.

Marina del Pilar emphasized the importance of managing public resources with transparency and efficiency, stating: "When public resources are used honestly, here are the results." The governor highlighted that this project is a clear example of the tangible benefits that can be achieved through responsible governance.

The El Sauzal Roadway Node is strategically located at the intersection of Federal Highway No. 3 Tecate-Ensenada and the Tijuana-Ensenada Highway, a critical point for vehicular traffic in the region. Its operation will ease the long-standing operational and traffic issues in the area, providing a lasting solution to the road congestion problems.

The project includes two vehicle bridges, one over the highway and another in the direction of Tecate, as well as on-ramps and exits towards Ensenada, Tijuana, and the port of El Sauzal. According to the governor, these improvements not only increase road capacity but also ensure smoother and safer driving for motorists.

"We are carrying out public works like never before in the history of Baja California. We are already working with the next government because more investments and projects are coming for the state," the governor added, underscoring the long-term vision of her administration.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the project is that it remained operational without significant disruptions during its construction, minimizing inconveniences for users. The project was executed by the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Territorial Reorganization (SIDURT) between July 2023 and September 2024, using 450 tons of steel and 15,106 cubic meters of concrete, ensuring the durability of the structures.

The El Sauzal Roadway Node is designed to handle traffic of up to 90,000 vehicles during peak hours, with over 15% being freight transport. This will significantly improve traffic flow and reduce travel times in the area.
