The measure is intended to prevent wildfires caused by the Santa Ana winds

San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) has announced scheduled power outages as a safety precaution to prevent wildfires caused by the intense Santa Ana winds. The outages will begin on Tuesday, January 7, at noon and are expected to last until Friday, January 10, at 4:00 p.m.

 

The most affected communities are as follows:

 

High-probability outage areas (7,342 people affected): 

Alpine Boulevard, Campo, Campo Reservation, Descanso, East San Juan Cap, Escondido, Jacumba, Julian, La Jolla Reservation, La Posta Reservation, Manzanita Reservation, Mesa Grande Reservation, Pala Reservation, Pauma and Yuima Reservation, Pauma Valley, Pine Valley, Rincon Reservation, Santa Ysabel, Santa Ysabel Reservation, Valley Center, Viejas Reservation, and Warner Springs.

Potentially affected areas (70,759 people): 

Barona Reservation, Capitan Grande Reservation, Chula Vista, El Cajon, Fallbrook, Jamul, La Mesa, Lakeside, Los Coyotes Reservation, Pala, Pechanga Reservation, Poway, Ramona, Ranchita, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Santa Fe, San Diego, San Pasqual Reservation, Santee, and Sycuan Reservation.

 

 

SDG&E has advised residents in these areas to prepare for the outages by securing flashlights, portable chargers, and reserves of water and food. This measure aims to reduce risks amid adverse weather conditions.
