This is in response to rising costs caused by the product shortage in the United States

Restaurant chain Denny’s announced that it will implement a temporary surcharge on all dishes containing eggs in response to rising costs caused by the nationwide egg shortage.

In a statement, the company explained that the surcharge amount will vary depending on the market and restaurant location due to regional differences in the egg crisis. However, it did not specify the exact cost or which locations would be affected, noting that the situation remains fluid.

Denny’s is not the only chain impacted. Waffle House recently introduced a $0.50 surcharge per egg on its menus, a measure the company says is temporary until prices stabilize.

The egg crisis is primarily driven by the avian flu outbreak, which has forced farmers to cull millions of chickens, reducing supply and driving up prices.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that egg prices will continue to rise by 20% this year. In addition to higher costs, consumers are also facing shortages in supermarkets, purchase limits on egg cartons, and restaurant surcharges as the crisis persists.
