The situation is equally alarming in Rhodes, where hundreds of tourists have been evacuated on several flights in an attempt to keep them away from the affected areas.

The disaster has been exacerbated by a heatwave covering the entire Europe, creating extremely dry conditions and favoring the spread of fires throughout the region. Greece, Sicily, Croatia, Algeria, and Tunisia have been affected by these devastating fires.

According to scientists, man-made climate change has played a crucial role in the intensity and frequency of these fires. In fact, they warn that the situation would have been "virtually impossible" without the effects of climate change.

In response to this emergency, the Greek Prime Minister has expressed concern about the impact on the country's tourism industry and has warned of a challenging summer ahead.

Authorities continue to work tirelessly to contain the fires and protect citizens and their properties amid this serious environmental crisis.
