The Republican National Convention begins in Milwaukee this Monday, where Donald Trump will be officially named as the presidential candidate of the Republican Party.

This comes just two days after the former president survived an assassination attempt.

Trump has announced that today he will reveal his running mate, according to a Fox News host who spoke with him. Two sources told CNN that the announcement will be made in the coming hours.

Trump is expected to name his running mate, who would become vice president if he wins the November elections, later on Monday.

Meanwhile, the repercussions of Saturday's shooting continue: the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security declared that the attacker should never have had a direct line of sight. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle reported they are working to "prevent an incident like this from happening again."
