In San Diego, flood alerts issued as a strong Pacific storm is expected to hit the Cali-Baja region over the weekend, according to the US National Weather Service. The National Weather Service (NWS) has stated that a temperature drop is forecasted for Saturday, especially in mountainous areas and the high desert, where gusty southwest winds are expected. The most intense gusts along the desert slopes could reach speeds of 45-55 mph.

 

Additionally, widespread and heavy precipitation is anticipated in certain areas during Saturday morning. These rains will persist and gradually taper off, with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms until Sunday, as reported by the NWS.

 

Areas like Oceanside, Palomar, and Julian are forecasted to receive the highest amount of rainfall. A significant amount of rain is predicted by Sunday night.

 

 

 

 

Snowfall is also likely in the mountainous areas of San Diego County. The NWS issued a Winter Weather Advisory, effective from Saturday morning until Sunday night. Snowfall of 1-3 inches is possible from 5,000-5,500 feet and 3-6 inches above 5,500 feet.

 

Furthermore, more strong and gusty winds are expected on Saturday, with a Wind Advisory also in effect for coastal areas and valleys of the region from Friday morning until Saturday afternoon. The deserts are also under a Wind Advisory until 11 a.m.

 

Lastly, a High Surf Advisory has been issued for coastal areas of the region from Saturday morning until 4 p.m. Sunday.

 

Showers may persist until Monday with warmer and drier weather expected for Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the NWS. Then, another storm system is expected to approach by late next week.
