In a press release, Caltrans announced that all northbound lanes of State Route 163, from Interstate 5 to Interstate 8, will be closed this weekend.

 

The closure will be in effect from 3 a.m. to noon on Saturday to allow crews to pick up trash, prune trees, clear overgrown vegetation, and repair damage to the roadway, Caltrans reported.

 

Affected areas include the northbound access from I-5 to State Route 163, both southbound and northbound, as well as access from 11th Avenue to the highway.

Detours will be established to direct northbound I-5 drivers to the eastbound access of I-8, where they will continue to the connector accesses of SR-163.

 

Drivers wishing to travel south on I-5 will be directed to the Imperial Avenue exit and then to the northbound I-5 access, where they should follow the detour.

 

Meanwhile, drivers coming from downtown San Diego will be diverted from 11th Avenue to the northbound I-5 access.
